🔧 Technical Details
Startup Optimizer is a macOS startup item management tool. It uses AppleScript's System Events to manage Login Items and launchctl to manage Launch Agents. It analyzes all current startup items, identifies non-critical services that can be safely disabled (like Spotify updater, Adobe background processes), and automatically backs up original configs before any changes. Supports three modes: report, optimize, and analyze.
❓ FAQ
Will disabling startup items affect normal usage?
No. The tool only suggests disabling non-critical services (auto-updaters, non-essential background processes). Infrastructure like V2Box and smcFanControl are never touched. Configs are backed up automatically before any changes.
How is this different from macOS built-in login item manager?
macOS built-in manager only shows a few user login items. Launch Agents (background services) are hidden. This tool manages both login items and Launch Agents, with smart analysis of what's safe to disable.
Does this require disabling System Integrity Protection?
No. It only operates on the current user's login items and Launch Agents — no SIP disabling or root access needed.
